L' Oréal Prize-Brazil for Women in Science for collaborator Rita de Cássia dos Anjos

We are delighted to inform you that our colleague and collaborator Dr Rita de Cássia dos Anjos was indicated for the L' Oréal Prize-Brazil for Women in Science 2020 in the category of Physics.

Rita studied Physics at the University of São Paulo in São Carlos, Brazil, and completed both her Master and PhD under the advisory of Vitor de Souza.
She is a member of the Auger Collaboration since 2014.

Rita continued her research in cosmic rays and astrophysics and has been very active in the last years. Two years ago, she organized with success an international conference in Foz do Iguaçu (International Conference on Black Holes as Cosmic Batteries: UHECRs and Multimessenger Astronomy). She also had the opportunity to spend time as a post-doc at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and with Luis Anchordoqui in the US, and in Germany at DESY-Zeuthen, working with Martin Pohl.

Rita is very active also in outreach, offering courses in financial education for high-school students, about teaching Physics for high-school teachers in the region of Palotina, and about pedagogical help in teaching Physics for visually impaired students.

She received the Fulbright Junior Faculty Member Award in 2017.

We congratulate Rita for the prize and also Vitor de Souza for opening the path that Rita followed so well.
